January Tarotscope!

tarotscope

We’re drawing one card for each sign from the Tarot’s Major Arcana and the second from its elemental suit. E.g. since Capricorn is an earth sign, one card is drawn from the Major Arcana and one from the Tarot’s earth suit, pentacles, for Capricorn. (Standard disclaimer: these are for entertainment purposes only).

Capricorn, December 22 – January 19: The Hanged Man and the Page of Pentacles. New opportunities and ideas are flying, but it’s up to you to reach out, and go forth. And sometimes that’s the scariest thing of all. But it’s well worth it. So don’t allow yourself to get tangled up in what if and but and all the reasons it won’t work. Take a chance, get off your butt, and set yourself free.

Aquarius, January 20 – February 18: Death and the Three of Swords. Something bugging you? The good news is it’s coming to an end. But flawed humans that we are, change — even a seemingly welcome one — can be terrifying. Don’t be scared. Trust it’s all for the best, even if you can’t see it right now.

Xena. Officially bugged.

Pisces, February 19 – March 20: The Devil and the Three of Cups. To truly connect with others, you need to see them. Really see them. In interactions with others, take a deep breath, get present, and take the time to listen without thinking about what you’re going to say next. And when they stop talking, wait two seconds before you start. You may be amazed by what you learn.

Aries, March 21 – April 19: The Sun and the King of Wands. You are on fire this month, Aries, and yes, in a good way! The creative action of the King of Wands combines this month with the blazing energy of the Sun, enabling you to really shine. So don’t be shy about letting other people see you and your work. So don’t back off on your ideas – now is the time to go full throttle.

Taurus, April 20 – May 20: Justice and the Ace of Pentacles. In Tarot, the Aces embody all the elements of their suit, so the Ace of Pentacles is about all the good (and bad) things in the material plane — health, wealth, enjoyment of others. But, dear Taurus, there is a warning of excess. Not an excess of good stuff (how is that possible?) but of a mental excess, a tendency to go overboard. Justice may be blind, but you need to be clear-sighted and most of all, balanced.

Gemini, May 21 – June 20: The Lovers and the Knight of Swords. What a delicious combination? In one school of Tarot thought, while the kings wield the power, the knights are the sexy, red-hot lovers of the queens. Let’s be naughty and go there, shall we? Because this is your month to have a roaring affair with life. Yes, life! Blow a kiss to the sun in the morning and one to the moon before bed at night. Savor every single bite you eat. Pay attention to the feel of the breeze on your face, the sheets on your skin. In short, this is your month to fully awaken, if you’re willing. (This attitude can only benefit mundane love affairs, FYI).

The right attitude. And the lingerie isn’t bad either.

Cancer, June 21 – July 22: Judgement and the Ten of Cups. Consider this your call to arms to feel love and gratitude to the people in your family. Yes, even — in fact especially — the annoying ones. You have an opportunity to mend fences — or at least fake it. But even if all you manage is the latter, the rewards of your effort will primarily accrue to you.

Leo, July 23 – August 22: Strength and the Queen of Wands. This month, by showing love and compassion to yourself (even your shadow side), you’ll attract others to your blazing light and show them love and compassion as well. In short, to reach out, you first need to reach inward.

Virgo, August 23 – September 22: The Star and the Two of Pentacles. You’re in the sweet spot this month, with a perfect balance of material goodness in all aspects of your life. The key to keeping it that way is a positive mental outlook. I know, it sounds corny, but it really is true — if your mind flies to the negative, your whole day will look that way. The Star promises us hope and peace. It’s up to you to bring the balance so you can find her.

Libra, September 23 – October 22: The Empress and the Page of Swords. Such an intriguing combination — the lush, sensual passion of the Empress and the youthful and incisive Page of Swords! What could it possibly mean? Simple – sometimes you need to use your brain to feel the way you want to feel. Think about what matters to you, and how you want to feel. And then do things that help you live those values. I.e. if you want to feel joy, figure out what makes you joyful and make sure to schedule some time to do it.

What gets your groove on?

Scorpio, October 23 – November 21: The Magician and the Four of Cups. If you’re looking for more love and connection in your life, the good news is, a hand is being held out to you offering just that. The welcome to reality news is before that hand can be extended, you’ll have to examine your inner landscape. Yes, it is possible to “manifest” love, but you have to shine it out first and know you are worthy.

Yes, you are.

Sagittarius, November 22 – December 21: The Fool and the Knight of Wands. Does it scare you? Ha! The Fool and the Knight of Wands laugh in the face of danger. The Fool because he’s got faith it will work out. The Knight because, well, that’s just what knights do. These two characters can get a bit impulsive, however. So evaluate the risk and reward before jumping off that cliff. Just don’t let the fact that it’s scary be the one thing that stops you. If it’s not at least a little scary, it’s probably not worth it.
