We’re drawing one card for each sign from the Tarot’s Major Arcana and the second from its elemental suit. E.g. since Virgo is an earth sign, one card is drawn from the Major Arcana and one from the Tarot’s earth suit, pentacles. (Standard disclaimer: these are for entertainment purposes only).
Virgo, August 23 – September 22: Temperance and the King of Pentacles. This month is about self-discipline and practical action. Though competing desires may pull you rocketing in different directions, the key to success is making those desires work together in your best interests. You have real potential this month for forward motion. Just try not to do anything too quickly, or take on too much, or you may get overwhelmed.
Libra, September 23 – October 22: The Star and the King of Swords. Libras are about balance, and the Star doubles up on that by helping balance your energies. The key, believe it or not, is your mind and not your heart. It’s too easy to feel things that are untrue. Sit back a moment and reflect on what’s really going on in your life. You’re actually entering a loving, hopeful phase.
Scorpio, October 23 – November 21: The Fool and the Page of Cups. There’s a big emotional chance in your future? Will you take the risk? The Fool and the Page say, “go for it!” No, they won’t guarantee success (or at least what you perceive to be a success). That’s in the hands of fate. But without risk, there’s no reward.
Sagittarius, November 22 – December 21: The Empress and the Queen of Wands. You are on fire this month, with not only the power and will to make things happen, but the might as well. The energies of these two powerful female archetypes make you nigh unstoppable. All they ask is that you listen to your inner voice. Your instincts are important this month.
Capricorn, December 22 – January 19: The Magician and the Knight of Pentacles. Lots of practical, earth energy coming your way in September. You’re well positioned to get things done, and have all the tools at your disposal to conquer your goals. Be bold and tackle them, but watch the details, don’t rush.
Aquarius, January 20 – February 18: The World and the Eight of Swords. If your inner voice is saying you can’t, tell it to shut the heck up. You can. Right now, you’re your own worst enemy. So dig down. You’ve got a well of indomitable power inside of you. All it takes to tap into it is belief.
Pisces, February 19 – March 20: Death and the Ten of Cups. The lesson here is letting go. Letting go means change, so it’s an easy thing to resist. But know that by letting go — of habits that no longer serve you and unhelpful emotions, for example — you’ll be freed to truly connect with people in a whole and loving way. So if you’ve been holding a grudge, forgive. If you’ve been resisting a break-up, let it happen. Let go.
Aries, March 21 – April 19: The High Priestess and the Eight of Wands. You may feel like you don’t know where you’re going this month, just that you’re going. Sometimes, that’s all you can do. The High Priestess doesn’t reveal her mysteries. Trust that you’re moving into something new and exciting and yes, better. Just keep moving.
Taurus, April 20 – May 20: The Emperor and the Five of Pentacles. This may feel like a tough month, but your life has more stability and power than may appear. Now is not the time for self-doubt. Have faith in the path you’ve chosen, and keep working toward your goals.
Gemini, May 21 – June 20: The Chariot and the Six of Swords. Lots of movement this month — a change of place or a change of mental space. Maybe both. But big, positive changes are possible. The key here is to harness your will and desire together. It’s not enough to dream. You must act. And it’s not enough to act. You must know where you want to go.
Cancer, June 21 – July 22: The Lovers and the King of Cups. An exciting choice confronts you this month, and your passionate nature will make the answer seem easy. Your first instinct may be the right one — this king is made of fire. But he’s got the wisdom that comes from experience to keep from getting burned. Know what you’re getting into.
Leo, July 23 – August 22: The Devil and the Nine of Wands. Don’t fool yourself. The walls you built aren’t protecting you, they’re keeping you prisoner. Sure, you can pretend. For a while. But the sooner you rip those blinders off, the better. There’s a world of wonderful people and opportunities outside those gates. But you need to step out from behind them to find them.
